Weekend Farmer's Market

Last weekend I walked over to our local Farmer's Market.  In fact, our entire neighborhood

seems to meet at the Farmer's Market on the weekends.  It seems to be the place we all catch

up with each other after our busy weekday schedules.  I arrived very early, around 8am, and was

amazed to find the market packed with shoppers.  I have a feeling spring fever has hit everyone so

even though it was early everyone was out enjoying the beautiful spring weather.  I left my regular

camera at home and just took my easy to carry little point and shoot camera with me because I had

intended to take several photos but the market was so packed I was only able to get a few.  So, I

have mixed in a few pictures from last year.

I love the springtime bounty of fresh veggies and fruits and flowers...

I especially like the organic stands...

My weakness...

I think strawberry season is my very favorite season...

Our Farmer's Market is quite large and farmers come from all over California...

The best part is when I get everything home and start cooking!

Later in the day, a friend and I met at Paulette's French Macaron Shop for a little macaron treat...

A Pink Lemonade Day

I just love using champagne glasses for pink lemonade with raspberries on a hot
summer day. It is so refreshing to have a cold pitcher of wonderful pink lemonade
flavored with fresh raspberries direct from the farmers market.

I don’t think there is any sense in reserving the lovely champagne flutes for just special
occasions with champagne.  I enjoy using them often because as they say,
“these are the good old days!”

And a  few fresh strawberries are always delicious.

I have a really pretty mosaic flower pot that I love to use to keep a bottle of French
pink lemonade chilled. I just put a plastic bag in the bottom and fill the pot with ice.
It looks so pretty and is perfect for a hot summer afternoon.

Here is another peek at one of my quilts. This one is the Dresden Plate Pattern.

As you can see in the pictures above, I love to use it on top of a table...

This pattern can be traced back to the 1800’s. It seems that Dresden, Germany was
the center of 19th century romanticism in art. Porcelain plates were embellished with
designs of flowers, foliage and fruit. The quilt pattern was fashioned after these beautiful
plates. The Dresden quilts became quite known in the 1920's and by the 1930’s the
quilts became very popular, made with wonderful floral prints and some even patterned
from feedsacks.
My Dresden quilt is from the late 1930’s. 
I found it many years ago in Pennsylvania while on a trip with my mom and dad.
I love it.
