The Lovely Art of Christie Repasy

One of the things I always look forward to is going to an event where artist Christie Repasy
will be showing her beautiful paintings and art work.

I'm sure you are all familiar with Christie from her lovely blog Chateau De Fleurs and seeing her
work in leading magazines, her HGTV appearance and on Rachel Ashwell's television show.

I first met Christie at the Olivenhain sale over a year and a half ago.  I was very familiar with her
beautiful paintings and it was such a wonderful pleasure to find her absolutely sweet and delightful.
I was just beginning to blog and wasn't quite sure if it was something I would really want to do but
she was warm and encouraging and...well, here we all are!

Some people are just born to be artists and Christie is one of those people. Her paintings are
all beautiful and peaceful.  She is best known for her French inspired romantic roses and florals
but it doesn't stop there. You should see what happens when she adds her art to chairs, doors,
shutters, etc.  It is an amazing artistic transformation.
She is a true California girl having grown up in Huntington Beach, California and studied art in
high school and college and from there developed her own exquisite style.  She has plans to take
her existing designs from already completed pieces and use them in textiles and wallpaper...and
that is just the beginning!
Here are a few more examples of Christie Repasy's beautiful paintings...

I am looking forward to seeing Christie again in the beginning of June at her next show at
The Vintage Marketplace at The Oaks in Rainbow, California.
I know you will want to visit Christie's lovely blog Chateau De Fleurs where you can also find links
to her HGTV appearance, Pinterest site and her events.  When you visit please say hello for me
and tell her I send her a big hug.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

The Flower Fields

We have had a couple of weeks of lovely weather in Southern California so I took
advantage of the beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures to visit the Flower Fields
at Carlsbad Ranch.  As warm and sunny as it was, it was also quite windy.

The flower fields are extraordinary...

When I first arrived I was wondering how I was ever going to be able to show the
flowers because when you look at the fields you really don't see individual flowers,
it's more like looking at a rainbow.  In fact, I almost didn't do this post because I'm
used to showing a more defined picture of flowers but the fields are not set up to be
shown that way.  The flowers are like free spirits blowing in the wind and meant to be
seen as massive colors looking like a rainbow.

Wonderful color everywhere you look...

This is how the fields look just as they are beginning to bloom...

And then, a burst of blooms...

The flowers that are in full bloom right now are Ranunculus which are a member of
the buttercup family and native to Asia Minor.

They really are so pretty.  Because the fields are meant to be seen as a rainbow they
have a separate area set up so you can see a few of the flowers individually as flowers
not just the rainbow.   All ruffles on the top of a thin stem...

The Ecke Family also show their famous Poinsettias, CymbidiumOrchids, a Rose Garden
and a Sweet Pea Maze which is amazing!  But that's for another time.

It turned out to be an extra special day because I ran into beautiful artist Christie Repasy
who was asked to exhibit some of her lovely works of art at the fields that day.

As you know, Christie is very well known for her gorgeous romantic rose paintings...

Every time I see her it becomes a special day because she is absolutely lovely and
delightful.

You can read about her studio Chateau De Fleurs and read her blog HERE.

If you have never been to the Flower Fields I hope someday you will be able to visit
and see the rainbows for yourself.  It really is quite unique.

A Visit To Chateau De Fleurs

Last weekend my friend “J” and I drove down to very southern California to go to the
Chateau De Fleurs sale.  Artist Christie Repasy hosted a lovely event at her new home
and studio. My friend picked me up at 6am that morning, which meant I was up at 4am
to feed and walk the dogs and take care of my cat. I was in such a rush to leave my
house that I left my camera behind! I couldn’t believe it!  That camera is always
attached to me, but it seems this one morning it missed the trip. I was so upset but I
wanted to at least tell you about her wonderful sale on my blog because it was a
fabulous event!

I found several treasures for friend’s birthdays and my own enjoyment (of course!).
In fact, the next day I gave a friend a vintage french art book that she had been eyeing
and I included one of Christie’s beautiful bookmarks with the book. My friend was
more thrilled about the bookmark than she was about the book!  And rightly so!
Wait until some other friends see what they have coming for their birthdays...they will
be over the moon! Thanks to the lovely and very talented Christie Repasy’s art work,
they are in for a treat!

There were several vendors.  All very talented and with a wonderful assortment of things
to choose from.  Business was brisk and everyone was having a wonderful time.

Please visit Chrisie's beautiful site  HERE .  You can see some of her exquisite art work
and read her blog.  Enjoy!
