Are You Ready To Spring Forward?

I recently stopped at the Santa Monica Antique Mart and could not escape the fact that
there were clocks ticking everywhere. Maybe I noticed it so much because I am aware
of the time change happening this weekend.  We are going to set our clocks forward
one hour at two o’clock Sunday morning...but I’ll probably do it before I go to bed on
Saturday night.

I think the picture above of the clock table is quite fun and unique. But maybe we don’t
need to be that aware of time passing so quickly. I would constantly be thinking of all
the things I had to get done before the end of the day.

Here are some other clocks that were making their tick tock voices heard today.  I
was not always able to get a full length picture because the antique store has so many
wonderful things and often there just wasn't enough space to stand back and take a
full picture. I know the overhead lighting causes a reflection on some of the faces in
the pictures, but when you are in the store it is perfect.

Here is a better look at this clock's sweet face...

This table clock is one of my favorites...

If you collect plates...

A sweet little Swedish clock.  She has a darling face and a little drawer...

A little more fancy...

A pretty little cloisenne clock

I wonder where this octagon clock lived before?  Maybe a school or market...

I believe they said this one was Danish...

There are so many styles of clocks.  It would be fun to know where each of these clocks
has lived before.  These are just a few of the many clocks in the store.
I love the fact that we are setting our clocks forward. That means more daylight hours
and spring is definitely around the corner.

Happy Spring...Forward!

PS...I apologize for taking so long in doing a new post.  I have been working hard on
decorating a beach house for someone and it has been taking all of my time.  The good
news is, he's very please with the beach house...so far!

I've been looking for a wall clock that's my style for awhile now. And I love the first one you posted!

I'm not ready for daylight savings, but it's not like I have much of a choice :)

I always miss that hour although it's nice to have more daylight.

The clocks are all gorgeous! :)

Susan, My Mom and Dad collected clocks so I am very attracted to clocks. Mom likes them to work and I don't mind if they don't I am like you, I love their faces. I am lucky to have 2 of my Dads clocks that started his collection. Mom still has never met a clock she did not love, trust me, she has waaaay too many but they bring her such joy. So when I hear a clock ticking I always think of her. I love a home with an older clock ticking in the background, nothing like that sound,KS

I hope you'll share your friend's beach house with us when you get it done.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)

Wow...so many clocks and not enough time? I love that antique market...I haven't been there for years though! I grew up down there and my family all is still in So Cal!

I love old clocks, and you found such a wonderful assortment on your antiquing trip!

For me, the day we return to daylight saving time is second only to Christmas in the heirarchy of holidays. I don't mind getting up in the dark, and I desperately need a bit more sunlight by this time of the winter. Life just looks a little brighter when it's still light outside at 7:30pm.

They do seem to
be VERY popular
now, particularly
the really large
wall variety. I
actually love the
Swedish one that
you feature.....
so sweet and it
would fit right
in here at my house!
Can't wait to see
what happened at
the beach after you
waved your magic
wand! I know it
is going to be really
special, like the
special friend you
must be to tackle
this project. Happy
Spring Forward!

Time flies fast enough without losing an hour, this day is passing by much to quickly. I am happy to have a little more daylight gives me hope that spring is just around the corner even though it's lightly snowing here right now.

Hi Lovey, we enjoy the long evenings but we essentially went to church at 7:30 this morning...haha. Love that first table clock. Thanks so much for visiting so many of my posts. Have fun at that beach house! ♥O

Do you know I absolutely LOVE clocks? I think it is because I am so time oriented and aware of the passage of time (maybe that's why). Whatever the reason, I do love them...Can you imagine working in a clock place and having to reset all the clocks for DST? lol Quite a job! xxoo Diana

Some lovelies here! But I think the big clock on the table would be too intimidating! As you say - too aware of time ticking away with that. Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely comments. You're a true sweetheart! Glad to see you back here, and in my comments section! Have a terrific week!

My favorite is number 2, the tall case clock. It's good you didn't have to turn all those clocks forward! A very timely blog, Susan.

I'm so happy to have the extra hour of daylight after work. I feel as though I have so much more energy.
All the clocks are very nice, but my favorite clock is a Friesen clock like this one http://antiquedutchclocks.com/catalog.html

I've got a total thing about clocks at the moment. Some of these are beautiful. I know what you mean about the big table one. It might be hard to relax with that ticking out the time!!!

A Beach House? That sounds intriguing!

I love clocks. I have a huge one above the mantel on my covered porch and cute little clock face knobs on the cabinets in my butler pantry. I hope you share the beach house you've been working on.

Those thrift stores in Santa Monica must be extra fun. I have really developed a thing for old clocks - maybe from Sarah at Modern Country?

I agree that having more daylight hours is nice, but my family is having a difficult time getting up in the morning. Give us a week and we will be back in the swing.

Hopefully you will share pictures of the beach house? It sounds like a fun project.
