Fence Me In or Don't Fence Me In

I have been trying to make a decision about something and it was very much on my
mind when I went for my usual Sunday morning walk today. It's nothing really
important, but still, I have to make a decision.  You might say I'm on the fence
about this decision.

I always enjoy this walk because it puts me in touch with my neighbors and
neighborhood and I always end up at the Farmers’ Market which is a favorite of
my weekend outings.

As I was walking today I kept noticing all of the different kinds of fences my
neighbors have around their yards. Maybe I just happen to notice it more today
because I’m on the fence about a decision I have to make. You just never know
how things come together!

We certainly have a great variety of fences and lots of roses, hydrangeas, agapanthus,
cactus and tall grasses.  Here are a few that stood out to me this morning...

And look at this sweet little willow fence...

I love the variety.  How about you...Do you have a fence around your yard?  If so,
what is it like?  Or, by any chance, are you trying to make a decision about something?

No momentous decisions being made up here today - unless one counts the decision about which book to start reading next.
Your walking route was something special. The variety of plants, the lushness of the gardens, the beauty of the walls and gates are exceptional - you live in a marvelous place.
I hope that you found your way to the right decision...........

I really enjoyed going on this walk with you and looking at all of these wonderful fences with the gorgeous plants climbing all over and around them! And to be able to walk to a farmers market must be great!

I am considering some things and need to make a decision sometime in the reletively near future...

Hope you make your decision soon and feel comforted by it.

the images you shared are just beautiful- I can see why it is a well pondered over -subject for you.
yes- we have a 2.10 meters high walled garden. we left some areas "open" and had trellis put in to match the very large French style gate and posts, so that some greenery and vine can soften the walls.when we were building, there was a lot of rubble and bricks as they were demolishing. we got a separate builder who built the wall around the property with all these bricks that would otherwise have been thrown away. huge gate and door posts were built and finished with a heavy band and pillars..all handcrafted and plastered to match the moldings on the house.it is a corner property, so we could add different entrances- apart from the main entrance doors leading to the front door, and the gates to the garages, one for staff and deliveries, another for pool cleaner and gardener since they will need access perhaps when no one at home..then there is all so a very private entrance right at the end of garden...where once my teeny little chapel is finished, invited friends will be able to use there own key to enter and use the chapel when needed. this just sounds like a lot of entrances,it actually works very well. Allows us the privacy we would like. colx

Oh I adore those images. I especially love roses spilling through an iron gate or the formality of an evergreen hedge. Decisions, decisions :)

We have a white picket fence on one side (really it is the neighbors' but it borders our entire side), and on the other we have planted Leland Cyprus trees to make a tall hedge. We are a corner house and we felt a little "on display" without them.
Oh, and I became a follower today. I really enjoy your page!

I'm loving your neighborhood!
I live in a tract neighborhood, so we all have the same redwood fencing throughout, so I would love to be in your enviable position with fencing choices. You have lots of great inspiration in your neighborhood and am confident you will make the perfect choice. Good Luck!!!!
Thanks for stopping by my blog, it's so nice to see you.

My goodness,
THIS is your
daily walk????
How beautiful.
I'm not sure if
your fencing decision
is real or metaphorical?
If it's real, I have
always loved the
look of wrought
iron, especially
if you can have
a gate! I also
love the look of
the hedges with a
"Secret Garden"
door ~ so sweet!
No big decisions
at the moment,
for me....just
taking it day
by day. LOVE
your pictures!!!

what a great walk you have, so much varied flora and fauna, well, and fences!

i have fences, with dogs it matters, but they still manage to escape our 5 acres... they are secret sleuths, sentries walking the line for an escape route just to make us crazy, i should have named them all houdini... opps, but i digress from your fence question!

i opt for anything that looks great with loads of color hanging on, over or under it :-)

glad you stopped by my blog, i was hoping to find your giraffe pic~

Your neighborhood would make me want to walk, walk, walk. No decision making needed for motivation here! Your photos are, as always, divine.

Hello again! What a wonderful area to take a walk and so many fences to enjoy and consider. I love stone fences especially with roses climbing over them and picket fences too. I made the decision to put up a picket fence off our back porch here on the farm. It's the only way we'll be able to keep our large dog from chewing everything up on the porch! I am having difficulty making a decision on what color to paint our little farm cottage though...I'm still working on that one. Hopefully I'll make a decision soon so I can have it done before fall officially arrives. It's been over a month since you published this post so you must have made a decision? If not...good luck! Take care...Maura :)
